JEWELLERY CARE

To ensure the longevity of your silver or gold plated jewellery, restore shine and lustre by washing in warm, soapy water. Use an old toothbrush to get into the detail and texture where dirt can build up. It is important to always pat dry with a clean cloth. An even deeper clean can be done using a solution of bicarbonate of soda and water. A polishing cloth can also be used and silver dip can help to removed heavy tarnish from silver (never use silver dip on gold jewellery).

Avoid wearing your jewellery in chlorinated water or when using cleaning products, do not spray perfume directly onto jewellery. When not wearing a necklace, avoid tangles by rolling the chain in a cloth, or keep it in the box it came in. Keeping jewellery in a box also helps to prevent tarnishing.

Jewellery has such a strong power to lift us and change how we feel, I hope that wearing my jewellery brings you joy. By choosing to buy handmade, you are supporting craftsmanship and ethical production, thank you so much for choosing my work.

WHAT IS STERLING SILVER?

The term Sterling Silver refers to 92.5% pure silver, also known as 925 silver. Silver is too soft for daily wear if it's 100% pure, therefore, it is mixed with alloys such as copper and zinc . Almost all precious metals used in jewellery manufacture are mixed with other metals to make them more hardwearing and more workable.

About lucy’s gold plating

Lucy’s work is plated in 2.5 microns of 24ct gold. A micron refers to the thickness of the layer of gold covering the silver jewellery. Most factory made “costume” jewellery is plated in as little as 0.25microns, which is why the gold finish often wears off very quickly. When Sterling silver is plated with 2.5 microns of gold it is referred to as Gold Vermeil which is the highest quality gold plating. The thickness of the gold plating means that it will not wear away and is suitable for those allergic to silver or base metals.
